How to sell abroad (in the EU) with Allegro

Although Allegro is a typically Polish marketplace, it’s growing rapidly across European Union. Recently, Allegro introduced several features and services for sellers making it much easier for them to offer their products also in English and ship them to 24 European countries. If that’s your goal too – read on, because, in this post, we’ll show you how to start selling abroad with Allegro.pl.

According to E-commerce Germany News, Allegro is not only the largest Polish marketplace but also number five on the list of Europe’s most visited online marketplaces. As of January 2023, this marketplace has over 18 million users, which is a very good result!

If you’ve never heard of Allegro, you can think of it as a Polish Amazon. Allegro offers almost any type of product from gardening equipment to car parts. There are 12 main product categories that are divided into dozens of smaller subcategories. So even if you’re looking for “spare parts for agricultural machines”, Allegro has got you covered.

What many people don’t know, though, is that Allegro is also available in English and ships products to other European countries, meaning it’s a worthy sales channel for all the online sellers located in the EU. And that’s what we want to talk about today. We want to show you what you need to do to start selling your products on Allegro and ship them EU-wide.

Step 1: Create an account

Allegro is open to all sellers from the European Economic Area (EEA). You start by filling out the registration form and providing all the requested business details (e.g., your tax identification number).

In the next step, you must provide bank account data. You can do so by sending bank documents confirming your ownership of the indicated account, or you can just make a verification transfer.

The last step of the account-creation process comprises sending your ID with a photo. Once that’s done, you’re almost good to go! Before you start selling products, though, you need to upload your returns policy, complaints policy, and shipping policy.

Here you will find detailed information on how to create an account on Allegro (make sure you see the English version; you can do so by switching to English at the bottom of the page).

Step 2: Enable cross-border sales

Your account is ready to go; you’ve completed the verification process, and it is time to sell some products! Before you do, though, you need to enable cross-border sales. This is important as, by default, Allegro is still a Polish marketplace, and it operates mostly in Poland. So, all the delivery and payment options are tailored to the Polish market.

To enable cross-border shipping on Allegro, you need to go to the My Allegro section and select the “Shipping settings” tab. Open the delivery price lists and find the section Allegro Standard – shipping from Poland abroad. There you need to select the “Allegro Kurier DPD” option. It will automatically include all cross-border delivery methods to 24 European Union countries with the option of payment in advance.

Once that’s done, you can move on to creating shipping price lists. They allow you to show your customers:

  • Which shipping options do you offer
  • What is their cost
  • What is the delivery time
  • How many items can fit into a single parcel
  • If you ship abroad

Step 3: Start selling and benefit from Allegro’s features for foreign sellers

Now, the rest of the process is very similar to Amazon. All you have to do now is list your products, receive payments, and ship your parcels. Allegro provides an intuitive and transparent dashboard so that you have full control over your sales.

Regardless of whether you are a foreign seller that wants to offer their products to Polish customers or you have a company in Poland and you want to sell your products abroad, Allegro can help you streamline your work. It’s vital to get acquainted with all the services and features Allegro provides to cross-border sellers. Let’s have a look at them.

Super-easy access to the Czech market

For starters, if you’re interested in the Czech market, Allegro has a Czech website version that’s fully tailored to this market. If that’s what you’re after, start with Allegro.cz. We will discuss Allegro.cz in detail in the coming article on our blog, so be sure to visit us soon!

Attractive delivery rates

It’s no secret that cross-border shipping can be expensive. Not with Allegro, though. As a part of Allegro’s shipping offer known as Wysyłam z Allegro (en. I’m Shipping With Allegro), this marketplace offers attractive shipping rates for all sellers using this program. Allegro brags that their rates start at just 10.99 PLN per parcel (less than 2.50 EUR). The delivery is available for 24 EU countries.

Ready-made translations

Whether you are a foreign seller who wants to sell their products to Poles or you want to conquer Europe with your Polish offer, Allegro offers an automatic translation service so that you don’t have to worry about it. It’s all based on the language version a given customer selects. If someone selects the Polish version, they will see all the English listings in Polish and vice versa. Obviously, this is an important feature as people usually feel much more comfortable when buying products in their native language.

This is true especially when it comes to the Polish Market. According to a recent E-commerce in Poland 2022 report, only 32% of Polish Internet users buy products at foreign stores (compared to 75% buying in Polish stores). The conclusion is obvious – if you want to sell your products to Poles you must offer products in Polish!

One Fulfillment by Allegro

If you’re planning on selling your products to Czechia and Slovakia, you don’t even have to worry about shipping. This is where Allegro’s fulfillment service steps in the game. One Fulfillment by Allegro is a comprehensive logistics outsourcing service. Allegro takes care of storing, packing, and shipping your products. Moreover, their promise is to send parcels the very same day!
